A Study in Merlot

Hail fellows, well met, greetings, salutations and thank you for attending this study in Merlot, a chronicle of man's passion for excellence, and a compendium of the finest epicurean pursuits in the history of history. As Oscar Wilde observed: "Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." As I hope you shall see in these studies, Merlot is certainly not "most people" in Wilde's sense.

Hello Merlot; and Welcome to this, My Study in Merlot.

Greetings; I am Merlot.

This, my first entry into the "blogosphere," if you will, is where I shall take my place among the legions of hobbyists, amateur's, dilettantes, fops, pretenders, cranks and their fans who encourage their countless forays into any topic that stimulates the frontal lobes of these thousands and thousands of typewriting monkeys who flock to Blogger, and have their say.

I am Merlot, and these are my studies into lifestyle of a gifted individual, living in the finest, most prosperious nation ever to organize itself on the face of the earth. By way of introduction, I shall furnish some basic information about Merlot, his interests, and pastimes, which should amaze and astonish you in equal measures. As a leading boxed wine reviewer, consultant, and reporter for several premiere wine review and popular magazines, Merlot's professional background is storied and illustrates a reputation that lends itself to a unstated majesty, admired by some, envied by others, and sad to say, and all but despised by the unwashed masses who live each day oblivious to the sense and sensibilities of a distinctly American gourmand, one who unashamedly "enjoys the pleasures of the table", if you will.

My aim with this "study in Merlot" is to express and distribute some of the ideas, views and opinions of one of the nation's leading authorities on boxed wine, domestic cheeses, American style, fashion, design, music, fine arts, films and the countless unsung American products that represent some of the greatest combinations of art and science ever to have graced the face of the earth.

With each new posting, I shall endeavor to illuminate something new, worth discovery, and perhaps worth the time you spend, reading the reflections of Merlot.
